Badrilal Lifted The Jyapu Cup Chess Title
Three times National Champion title holder Badrilal Nepali lifted the Jyapu Cup Fide Rating Chess Tournament title in Lalitpur, Friday. He defeated former national champion Naveen Tandukar in the final & tenth round of the tourney. He succeed to pocket 15,000/- rupees and the victory after sixtieth move of Petrove Defense playing with black color. Badrilal gained 8.5 points out of 10 rounds.
Former National Champion Surbir Lama(Macchindra Club) placed second when he lost the final round with Krishna Thapa of Makawanpur district. He remains on 7.5 points. Krishna Thapa and Naveen tandukar placed third and fourth with equal 7.5 points following by progressive point tie-breaker.
Fide Master Manish Hamal, Veteran National Champion Rabindra Shakya, Bikash Kuluju of Bhaktapur, Rijendra Rajbhandari of Kathmandu Chess Club, Umesh Sainju of Bhaktapur and Purushottam Chaulagain of Standard Charted Bank placed fifth to tenth position respectively.
Herakaji Maharjan of Lalitpur tagged as the best local while Ganeshman Duwal of Bhaktapur as best veteran. Bijay Dangol of Annapurna HSS finalized the best in U15 age category. Veteran Premlal Maharjan of Kirtipur and Ramesh Bhandari of Kantipur Chess Club got the rating category prizes between 1200-1750 & 1751-1850 respectively. Krishna Man Maharjan and Suryaman Maharjan of Lalitpur got the Unrated category prizes.
